Plastic fabrication Liverpool: Our Story

Plastic fabrication Liverpool: Engineering Plastic Services (known as EPS) was formed in the early 1970s as a part-time cottage industry during a time when plastic for industry was relatively new.

The business was based in a small office unit with three garages for manufacturing. EPS expanded over the next five years by doing all forms of specialised fabrication work for a wide range of companies, including:

  • Ford Motors
  • Vauxhall Motors
  • Kelloggs
  • Rolls Royce Motors
  • British Rail
  • Astrazeneca

We service a range of companies for master weights to give them weight accuracy to extremely fine limits including Iceland, Tulip, BASF & Renshaw’s.

We manufacture a full range of fabrication items in PVC, PP, CPCV and much more for the water treatment industry.

We have a range of water storage and delivery systems for aid agencies around the world.

To this day we continue to research, develop and manufacture from prototypes to huge batches of various products to suit your industry.

Our History

1970s

the beginning

Engineering Plastic Services was formed in the early 70s as a part-time cottage industry, during a time when plastic for industry was a relatively new requirement. Based in a small office unit with three garages for manufacturing, the business expanded over the next five years by doing all forms of specialised fabrication work for a wide range of companies in an equally wide range of sectors.

1980

establishment

In 1980, the company was formerly registered and moved to a larger fabrication premises. Continuing through the 80s, we were VAT registered and went on to vastly expand our range of products and services to include sheet, rod, and engineering materials.

1988

the move

In 1988, we moved into our current premises and continued to expand our range of materials and skills, taking on a large amount of work for the Ministry Of Defence, as well as large volumes of restoration work in the city centre.

1990

the evolution

1990 saw us work closely with the koi carp industry, designing, manufacturing and fitting filters. We also did much drawing, designing and advising the plastics industry. However, this curtailed due to prohibitive costs of insurance premiums for the liability.

This feeling in the industry around the time was that every company needed a hook. Ours became: “If It’s To Do With Plastics, We Can Solve It”.

1993

diversification

In 1993, we designed and developed an acid-mixing system control board, tank, valves and other tools for Pilkington Architectural Management Services, a large St Helens based manufacturer of Architectural, Automotive and Specialty Strategic Business Unit services. These acid etch to glass sheet tools provided by Engineering Plastic Services are still running smoothly today.

2000

new directions

By the millennium, EPS saw a big increase in water management customs, from treatment works to complete purification and storage in portable containers. We also became heavily involved in costal erosion bags and fittings.

2005-2010

new horizons

During 2005-2010, we worked with several aid agencies such as the Red Cross and Oxfam, becoming further involved with water systems, storage and distribution in remote locations. This caused EPS to branch out and expand into the manufacturing of the specific fittings required for various installations of water systems due to most jobs being ‘one offs’. We also developed an extensive range of fittings for a very wide range of applications such as nail varnish to aviation fuel, and all in between.

2010-present

strength to strength

We continue to make special fittings in a wide selection of materials that are required. Our works in master weights continue to increase and we’ve manufactured a wide selection for most of the food producing and packaging industry. We continue to service a range of large companies for master weights to give them weight accuracy to extremely fine limits, including Iceland, Tulip, BASF, & Renshaw’s. We have a range of water storage and delivery systems for the aid agencies around the world.

The machine guard section of the business continues to grow, from standard products to specials and one offs. We see further expansion in first off prototypes for our customers then after approval and trial, we develop the product into a full production run onto our CNC machines.  Depending on the batch sizes, we will look at any plastic related applications and give you a fair and honest opinion, free of charge.

To this day, we continue to research, develop and manufacture from the first offs of a prototype, to huge batches of various products to suit your industry.

If it’s to do with plastics … we can solve it.
